that is 100% unacceptable and possibly class-actionable.Įdit: I'm also looking at this from a technical perspective. Wanting to make money on cloud storage is fine, but i have a BIG problem when they lie to you, so you purchase the item, hook it up, have it for the rest of the year then find out you have to pay. The most deceitful part is the fact they hide cloud storage subscription information, there is no way to adjust it or even see your plan anywhere - online or in the app. so they have no idea what they are talking about.

I am waiting to talk to a supervisor at blink b/c so far the person i talked to said "local storage" isn't even available yet. USB flash drive required (sold separately)." My current belief is that what they are saying on the amazon listing is not true, and even on the box its says "record and store video clips to the blink sync module 2 in your home and view them in your blink app from anywhere. The bottom line is there are pretty serious games being played by Blink right now and it's not cool at all.

I hunted in the app to see how to change the cloud storage settings and it is non existent. I am currently testing it and the "Play" screen where you play your clips works even without my USB plugged in. On the listing it says you can use local storage and cloud in the same way and the only difference is where it's stored. I bought these cameras on prime day after heavily researching the local storage information. I don't know how you can market a product claiming it does something that it doesn't. So Blink is currently doing two things - talking about present day functionality, and "future" functionality which doesn't exist yet. I've never see anything like this.Īll the verbiage talking about syncing your USB drive and watching them on the computer is talking about how it is present day. There is also no way to manage a cloud subscription currently. So the bottom line is that right now Blink doesn't even have this built and is saying it's coming January 1st.

When you click a clip to watch it, your clip will upload to the cloud and then download to your phone, and then be removed. He said that effective Jan 1st local storage will allow the camera to save directly to the USB drive. Open the App Store/Play Store on your phone and search for 'RouteThis Helps' and download it.I spoke to the blink supervisor after he escalated the issue.“If you see that one has no problem with the internet why not do the test so we can see that one also here we will wait for the keycode once your done with the test. Her response was (all of this exactly as she wrote it): She will not admit there is an ongoing larger issue with the latest firmware update. and politely said I work with networks and assured her all was working fine. I told her I have no issues with my network (Fiber optic, all cameras are showing as fully connected via wifi). She/he wants me to download "RouteThisHelps" - an extremely invasive app with horrid reviews, that apparently fixes nothing - but after a three minute test, gives them info about my network (that I will never see): a ton of info about what devices are connected to my router, etc, etc. Yes, that's how I've been communicating - via email that was initiated through the app. Yes, I restarted the router several times as well, and safely ejected and reinstalled the USB drive (and tested others). I wish I were one of the lucky ones who could uninstall the sync module and reinstall it and it suddenly works - but I've tried that at least six times and am waiting for them to fix it on their end. Either that, or their support people are so lame that they don't realize it's a widespread issue - though I stated it several times. What upsets me most is that they aren't being honest about the issue, and they are clearly stalling for time until they fix it. What's most upsetting to me isn't just that the cameras aren't recording any clips - I can return most of them still to Amazon if I wish. This started with the latest firmware update.

The wifi shows as being full bars to camera and sync module. Now they claim it's a wifi issue, which is laughable - and absurd, as we have fiber optic and the camera I'm testing is inside and only feet away (I shut off all other cameras until this is fixed). I've tried everything (reinstalling everything, rebooting everything multiple times, it has taken over 8 hours from work in total). Live view works, but nothing is recording to the (Blink) USB drive, and there are no notifications.
